High rollers and superstars coming to explore wine and beach country in the Okanagan will soon be able to lay their heads in the lap of luxury, according to developers of the new Westin Kelowna Resort and Spa.
The $140 million four- to five-star condominium-hotel - the first of its kind in Kelowna - will be built in the heart of the city's downtown core and steps from the shores of Lake Okanagan.
"We've tried to keep (Kelowna) a secret, but I guess it's out now," said area MLA Sindi Hawkins as developers unveiled the project in Vancouver this week, adding she's thrilled the city will finally be able to provide appropriate accommodate for more upscale clientele.
The 220-unit complex by developer Stanley Yasin features studio, one- and two-bedroom suites complete with a fireplace, flat screen TV, carpets and a deck or patio.
Slated to open in 2009, developers expect the resort to pull in a whopping $300 million between now and its first birthday, and create 150 new jobs for the region.
And, with suites available for individual sale, you can own a little piece of this pie through strata-hotel ownership for anywhere between $250,000 and $2 million.
