ORLANDO- A group of South Florida developers IS planning this city's tallest high-rise hotel, a $500 million-plus CONDOMINIUM HOTEL with more than 1,300 units, 75,000 square feet of meeting space and its own 1,000-seat Broadway-style theater featuring a three-hour nightly musical review.
According to the Orlando Business Journal, plans for the projectt- first reported last month on this website- will be revealed February 23, the day before Cohen Meunier and Aguirre Development Group LLC opens its sales center.
Construction on the 39-story building will begin in October or November
of this year and will open in three phases between August 2008 and
January 2009, according to Camilo Aguirre, the founding principal.
Aguirre told the Orlando paper the 13-acre resort will include a promenade around the resort's Swan Lake, which will be filled with 50 swans and dozens of flamingos. Lining the walkway will be retail shops and five themed international restaurants.
Aguirre estimates the buildout sales for the project will be $850 million.
Aguirre has been involved with the Ocean Beach Resort, the 1500 Ocean Drive Project and the Bethel Beach Club Resort and Spa, according to the report. He founded the Immo Group Inc., a real estate investment banking group.
The report noted another partner, Gary Cohen, is the managing director/CEO of MOC Capital Partners Inc. in Boca Raton, FL, which does about $200 million in
commercial real estate business annually. A third principal, Jean Marc Meunier, is CEO of Constructa US, developers of projects such as
CocoWalk, 1500 Ocean Drive and the Mary Brickell Village in South
Florida, and new Sofitel hotels in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and
Washington, DC.
