Giarratana Development will add a hotel to its Signature Tower, a luxury condominium the company plans to build in downtown Nashville.
The hotel will be 13 stories, with ten stories of rooms, on top of a three-story base, that will include the lobby and amenities such as a pool and fitness center. In total, Signature Tower will be 65 stories tall and contain 600 condominium units and street level retail. The project will break ground January 2007, with completion set for late 2009.
The hotel will be a key piece of Signature Tower, said the development company's president, Tony Giarratana. "It will add something that Nashville hasn't seen, but is happening in other parts of the country, as condominium owners will have access to hotel amenities," he said.
Giarratana added that he has not yet selected an operator for the hotel, but hopes to later this year.
Giarratana Development has been developing residential units in downtown Nashville since 1996. At the Viridian, a central business district condominium tower that Giarratana is developing, buyers have mainly come from three distinct groups. "About 60 percent is from the 'hip and cool,' from 25- to-30-year-olds," Giarratana said. "About 15 percent are more mature, the empty nesters. And about 20 to 30 percent are from corporate users, who may have entertained clients at a Nashville Predators game, or a Tennessee Titans game, and want to stay in the city for the night."
