Summer season failing to heat up hotel market

NAPA VALLEY, CA- A McKinstry Street hotel project here that had been stalled is planning to begin construction in late 2006. Intrawest Corp. completed the purchase last month of a 4.5-acre site next to the River Terrace Inn for a hotel financed through the sale of 180 condo units, according to the Napa Valley Register.
The property will be operated most of the year as an upscale hotel, with their owners staying here only a few weeks annually.
Intrawest bought the site from Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts, which expects the hotel to boost visitorship and special event rentals.
The property will include a quality restaurant, a spa and 6,000 square feet of meeting space. The U-shaped property will orient to the Napa River.
